CONCERT ENSEMBLES

CONCERT BAND

This is a non-auditioned, mid-level performing group that performs music from wind band literature. Seating arrangements are by audition and can be challenged at each trimester. All students in this group are expected to prepare a solo or small ensemble piece throughout the school year. Students are expected to perform in several concerts, pep band, competitions, participate in after school dress rehearsals and have practiced their parts diligently.

SYMPHONIC BAND

This is a high level-performing group that performs music from wind band literature. This ensemble is by audition only and requires year-long class enrollment. Seating arrangements are by audition and can be challenged at each trimester. All students in this group are expected to prepare a solo or small ensemble piece throughout the school year. Students are expected to perform in several concerts, pep band, competitions, participate in after school sectionals and have practiced their parts diligently.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

*Bold is required, non- bold is highly recommended*

  • A functioning instrument (Personal or school instrument).

  • Supplies for instrument maintenance or function. (See Below)

  • Black binder (1”), sheet protectors, and two pencils. It is recommended the student use different binders for different ensembles.

  • All required music and fundamental book. If lost, it can be re-printed for a $5 fee.

  • Tuner-Metronome (can be tonal energy app on smartphone)

  • Concert Black Uniform (See Handbook)

FLUTE-  Cleaning rod, silk swab, key oil, polish cloth, key brush

OBOE- Silk swab, 3 working reeds, reed soaking container, reed case, polish cloth, key oil, key brush

BASSOON- Silk swab, 3 working reeds, reed soaking container, reed case, polish cloth, key oil, key brush

CLARINET- Silk swab, 3 working reeds, reed guard, cork grease, reed soaking container, polish cloth, key oil, key brush

SAXOPHONES-  Silk swab, 3 working reeds, reed guard, cork grease, reed soaking container, polish cloth, key oil, key brush

TRUMPET- Valve oil, Slide grease, mouthpiece brush, straight and cup mute, polish cloth, cleaning snake

HORN- Valve oil, Slide grease, mouthpiece brush, straight and cup mute, polish cloth, cleaning snake

TROMBONE- Slide cream, slide grease, mouthpiece brush, polish cloth, cleaning snake

EUPHONIUM- Valve oil, Slide grease, mouthpiece brush,  polish cloth, cleaning snake

TUBA- Valve oil, Slide grease, mouthpiece brush,  polish cloth, cleaning snake

PERCUSSION- Stick bag, snare drum sticks, hard plastic or rubber mallets, yarn mallets, timpani mallets, practice pad and bell kit.
