As a future member of the Brighton High School Band Program, we want you to feel as prepared as possible as you transition to high school band or orchestra!

Incoming Student Checklist:

 

Here are a few things to think about:

  • Stop by our booth to get a sticker on 8th Grade Night

  • Attend the BHS Recruiting rehearsals See packet for more info​

  • Visit our website: https://brightonbengalmusic.com  and fill out the incoming student form (under auditions).

    • If you fill this out by the recruiting rehearsal, you will be entered to win a T-Shirt at the rehearsal.

  • Get your audition material and prepare your audition:

    • Two major scales of your choice

    • One etude from the packet (Attached)

ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS

Below contains information regarding ensemble auditions for the Brighton Instrumental Music. There is a place for students of all skill levels within our program, and all students are asked to audition to appropriately place you within the ensembles.  Auditions will be held in April and May, high school students will make an appointment (coming soon) and middle schoolers will play for Ms. Mortensen during their respective classes. 

Audition Requirements 

Band:

  1. Major Scale & Arpeggio 

  2. Instrument Etude ​​

Percussion Ensemble:

  1. Major Scale & Arpeggio

  2. Snare Etude (from packet)

  3. Mallet Etude (from packet)

 

Jazz Band:

  1. Blues Scale 

  2. Solo over the 12-Bar Blues Recording provided

  3. Play "Alright, Okay, You Win" with the track provided

  4. ​Drumset Only: Demonstrate these styles- Swing, Funk, Rock & Samba​
